Each year, this series has been warmly received as a special way to celebrate the beginning of a new year, featuring auspicious designs inspired by the Japanese zodiac.
The 2027 releases feature the Sheep, the zodiac animal for the year. Known for their gentle nature and tendency to live peacefully in flocks, sheep symbolize family harmony, stability, and peace, bringing wishes of good fortune for the year ahead.

Matsui Pure Malt Whisky “Kurayoshi Year of the Sheep 2027 Special Release”
The sixth release in our Zodiac Label Series.
This special pure malt whisky celebrates the Year of the Sheep with an elegant decorative band featuring a gentle sheep, auspicious clouds, and pine trees, traditional symbols of good fortune.
Carefully selected malt whiskies are blended and finished with pure natural spring water sourced from the depths of Mount Daisen, one of Tottori Prefecture’s most renowned mountains.
The label also features Kiryu-ori, a traditional Japanese woven textile.
As the saying goes, “Nishijin in the West, Kiryu in the East,” Kiryu-ori boasts a history spanning more than 1,000 years. Produced using seven traditional weaving techniques, it is known for its soft texture and elegant luster, and is widely used in everything from luxurious kimonos to fashion accessories.

Matsui Whisky “The Daisen Mizunara Cask Zodiac Label”
This special blended whisky celebrates the Year of the Sheep, featuring a gentle sheep design that embodies wishes for happiness and good fortune in the coming year.
Carefully selected whiskies are blended and finished with pure natural spring water sourced from the depths of Mount Daisen.
Enjoy the distinctive oriental aromas imparted by Mizunara oak, complemented by a smooth, mellow taste and a pleasantly lingering finish.
